I grew up playing sports of all kinds depending on the season – basketball in the winter, softball in the spring, swimming (and a little bit of water polo) in the summer, soccer in the fall. Around age 14 I settled on softball, and played very competitive travel softball year round for the next 6 years. I went on to play softball at West Chester University (go Rams!) where I studied Kinesiology, Health and Physical Education track, with two declared minors in Health Education and Adapted Physical Education. After graduation I taught Health and PE for 3 years in the North Penn School District and the Chester County Intermediate Unit. I switched gears in 2012 to take a position as a programming director at a YMCA, and spent the next 5 years managing fitness, wellness, and recreation programming for children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities.
I discovered CrossFit at Ironborough in June of 2016, after I was less than impressed with some photographs that were taken of me. I participated in the New You challenge and immediately fell into stride. CrossFIt reminded me of everything I loved about playing sports, but mostly getting fit with people that I care about. My absolute favorite part of CrossFit is the high-fives at the end of the workout, if I can lift my arms.
When I’m not at Ironborough, I love to spend time with my wife, Joelle, and our dog Bryson. We love to travel, hang at home, and we are super active, participating in road and obstacle course races. Our favorite vacation is anywhere with a nice lake and fast boat. And Bryson’s favorite activity is being resident gym dog at Ironborough.
